Noise from the Appliance
- A noisy fridge or freezer is not uncommon, especially if the appliance is new. Below are a few noises you may hear coming from your appliance, but always check the user manual for any recommendations for your appliance.
- 1.
You may here a cracking sounds from within the appliance — this is usually caused by a build up of frost on internal fridge components.
See the “Defrosting the appliance” topic for further information. - 2. Loud vibrating or motor sounds, this type of noise is usually caused by the internal fan or compressor motor. This is often normal or can sometimes be made worse by the appliance vibrating against a wall or surrounding cupboards. If the appliance is not correctly levelled, this may also cause an increase in noise.Check you have correctly positioned the appliance, for more information see the “Correct positioning” and “Adjusting the feet” topics.
- 3. Some gurgling noises are created by the gas or coolant circulating inside pipes (even when the appliance is not running), this is normal.
- 4. Air movement noises can be heard from the small fan motor in the freezer compartment.
- 5. A noise sounding like helicopter could mean that the fan has iced up in the freezer. Please defrost the appliance.See the “Defrosting the appliance” topic for further information.
